stakeholders in our community. A priority at this time is supporting the City of Penticton in our collective efforts to be
recognized as an Age Friendly Community and we would like your feedback!
What does age-friendly mean to you?
Everyone in the community is invited to share comments and/or photos to Shape Your City Penticton about what age-friendly means to them. Visit the site and see what is being posted by your friends and neighbours!
They are also looking for a small group of older adults to participate in a couple of interviews, and possibly a group discussion, about what age-friendly means to you. They will be asking participants to take photos with a disposable camera and keep a journal about what they take photos of and what is meaningful to them about an age-friendly community. They will work around your availability and needed supports in a pandemic-friendly way.
We also welcome family members or care providers if they would like to be involved as well.
Everyone benefits in an age-friendly community
- Seniors are supported to age actively, enjoy good health, and remain independent and involved in their communities.
- People of all ages and abilities benefit from safer, barrier-free buildings and streets, better access to local businesses and facilities, and more green spaces.
- Businesses benefit from the increased support and spending power of older customers, and are better able to support older workers.
- The community benefits from the increased participation of older adults in community life.
Your input will help the City of Penticton and community partners, to develop an Age-Friendly Action Plan that is recognized by the World Health Organization and that improves local policy, programs and amenities. Get involved today!
