What does age-friendly mean to you?

Everyone in the community is invited to share comments and/or photos to Shape Your City Penticton about what age-friendly means to them. Visit the site and see what is being posted by your friends and neighbours!

They are also looking for a small group of older adults to participate in a couple of interviews, and possibly a group discussion, about what age-friendly means to you. They will be asking participants to take photos with a disposable camera and keep a journal about what they take photos of and what is meaningful to them about an age-friendly community. They will work around your availability and needed supports in a pandemic-friendly way.

We also welcome family members or care providers if they would like to be involved as well.

Everyone benefits in an age-friendly community

• Seniors are supported to age actively, enjoy good health, and remain independent and involved in their communities.
• People of all ages and abilities benefit from safer, barrier-free buildings and streets, better access to local businesses and facilities, and more green spaces.
• Businesses benefit from the increased support and spending power of older customers, and are better able to support older workers.
• The community benefits from the increased participation of older adults in community life.

Your input will help the City of Penticton and community partners, to develop an Age-Friendly Action Plan that is recognized by the World Health Organization and that improves local policy, programs and amenities. Get involved today!
